The challenge
The presence and completeness of assembled and crimped individual parts within each component had to be checked reliably and reproducibly. At the same time, the solution needed to remain cost-effective for smaller production volumes and allow rapid adaptation to new products.
The requirement was for a flexible inspection station capable of handling different component geometries, integrating multiple cameras and being centrally controlled. The system also had to fit seamlessly into the existing production process and provide a fully traceable quality assessment at all times.
Our solution
We developed a modular camera inspection station based on a robust base frame and equipped with off-the-shelf camera and software solutions. These were integrated into a customised, PLC-controlled system.
The PLC manages the connected cameras, controls component clamping and displays the inspection result through visual signalling. If the component passes inspection, a label is also applied. The modular design allows the station to be adapted flexibly to new inspection requirements.
