The challenge
The existing stamping die caused recurring quality issues and unplanned production stoppages. Punch breakage, part jamming, burr formation and adhering slugs resulted in increased maintenance effort, scrap and unstable processes. In addition, the burnished-edge length did not meet quality requirements, further affecting component performance.
The goal was to significantly improve process stability, reduce downtime and extend tool life over the long term—without fundamentally changing the existing production environment.
Our solution
We completely redesigned the stamping die, incorporating optimised guiding and stripping systems. Reinforced stripper plates, more precise punch guidance and the targeted use of gas springs significantly improved stability and process control.
We also implemented a three-point alignment system for reliable part positioning and integrated slug-stop dies and punches with stripper springs. The cutting parameters were fine-tuned, and burr-coining punches were designed and tested to deliver a lasting improvement in component quality.
